My name is Kaya Sattva
and I'm the designer and goldsmith
behind my line of artisanal jewelry.
I consider myself very fortunate to have been
struck with the love of metal smithing
and to be a maker of gifts
we give ourselves and each other
for beautification, commitment, ritual, and empowerment.
Some of the most rewarding moments I have as a jeweler
are the times when I get to see how someone's look
is immediately transformed in some lovely way
as soon as they try on what was seemingly,
or intentionally, made for them.
Since 2006 I've enrolled myself in a variety
of jewelry classes given by master jewelers.
These classes have lined themselves as stepping stones
according to my evolving interests in craft, and artistic pursuit.
Every hour at my bench is happily spent
building on the many lessons learned and technical skills gained,
as I etch and infuse a bit of soul into metal and stone.
Available here.
Through thoughtful design,
intentional fabrication,
detailed crastsmanship,
and the use of traditional metalsmithing techniques,
my work results in unique jewelry precious with meaning.
It appeals to the eyes as well as the soul.
My jewelry is the outcome of focused attention.
It is crafted at my studio in Oakland
one piece at a time, or in small batches,
with my own 2 hands from start to finish.
Committed to an eco-friendly approach,
I work with low-impact and bio-degradable materials.
Supplies and services are sought locally
to support professional neighbors.
Metals are meticulously
recycled and repurposed.
A portion of my precious scrap metal is donated to CERF+,
a nonprofit organization that uniquely focuses
on safeguarding the livelihoods of artists nationwide.
My sustainable practices also include the consideration of longevity
which I strive for with all of my designs.
Both durable and classic, they are all well crafted
offering years and years of personal adornment
for each unique individual
who will collect and wear my jewelry.
